 DETOUR ON MUNJOY HILL (ROUTE 1)   SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 20, 2014

FROM 9:15 a.m. TO 10:15 a.m.  PART OF THE EASTERN PROM WILL BE CLOSED.  BUSES WILL TRAVEL INBOUND USING NORTH STREET TO WALNUT STREET, BACK TO NORTH STREET, UP CONGRESS STREET TO ATLANTIC STREET.

FROM 10:15 a.m. TO 2:30 p.m. BUSES WILL TRAVEL INBOUND NORMAL ROUTE TO CONGRESS ST.  (NO ATLANTIC STREET).

  

Bus Stop Relocation Project (Updated September 18)
METRO is establishing a policy for bus stop placement across our system.
This policy will change or remove bus stops that are spaced too close together or do not meet other guidelines.

Following public meetings (September 15 in Portland, September 16 in Westbrook) and pending board approval, these changes will begin in October 2014

Bus Stop Relocation Project (Updated August 21):
METRO Staff has been reviewing bus stop locations throughout our system as part of an overall assessment to improve service.
As part of the process, staff is reaching out to neighborhood associations and other stakeholder groups to make them aware of changes planned.
Updates will be posted here. Questions can also be sent to METRO staff.

Congress Street Priority Corridor - UPDATE:
Bus stops at Lincoln Park (inbound and outbound) and in front of Reny's will be removed in early May as part of the Congress Street Priority Project to make the corridor safer and transit service more efficient.

Please note that the bus shelter at the PTC (Portland Transportation Center - Route #5) has been moved due to construction.
Signs have been posted onsite directing bus passengers to the new location.

METRO's Route #5 will no longer stop in front of Dick's Sporting Goods in Mall Plaza. This had been an unmarked stop.

Effective Immediately
METRO Route #4
Outbound Westbrook service will travel on
Mechanic to Prospect St. (instead of Saco Street) and stop at Westbrook Point Apartments before going to IDEXX. No service inbound to Westbrook Pointe Apartments.

Effective, beginning Monday, November 25
Regional Transportation Program (RTP) will provide bus service to the towns of Naples, Casco, Raymond, Windham, Westbrook and Portland.  For the remainder of 2013 all bus rides are free. The Portland bus stop will be at the METRO Pulse at Elm Street. Visit rtprides.org for schedule and information.

Effective, Beginning Monday, November 25
Congress Street Priority Corridor Update:
The bus stop at Congress and Elm Streets will be discontinued. The new stop will be located in front of the Portland Public Library. Additional bus stops along Congress Street will also be updated as part of this project. Look for notices on bus stop signs. Passengers on inbound Routes #6 & #7 should disembark at the METRO Pulse (not at Congress Street stop).

ROUTE #4 -- Due to construction, effective Thursday, November 21, outbound Route #4 service will travel on Mechanic Street to Prospect Street and Westbrook Pointe Apartments before going to IDEXX. The route at Westbrook Pointe Apartments will turn left on Brackett Street to the parking lot and return to the regular route. The inbound route will travel Saco Street, right on the bypass road and back to Maine Street.

Construction Reminder: Please be aware, that due to construction throughout the service area, some bus stops may not be accessible. Bus operatators can not drop off or pick up passengers within a construction zone.

METRO provides safe service during typical Maine weather conditions, but if the weather is severe, change in service would be posted on this website at least two hours prior to any cancellation of service and announced via local media outlets.
